FIRST

Marine Training and Consulting Ltd (MTAC) was the FIRST Course Provider to be accredited by the Canadian Coast Guard to provide training and exams to the public under the Competency of Operators of Pleasure Craft Regulations (COPCR) which came into effect in 1999.

LARGEST

Today MTAC has more than 350 active agents across Canada, probably more than any other Course Provider. Wherever you are, MTAC should have an agent near you. If not, we also offer our study manual and the challenge exam online to enable all boaters to have the chance to obtain their PCOC.

CANADIAN COAST GUARD

MTAC was founded in 1997 by Capt. Brian Tuomi. Before starting MTAC, Capt. Tuomi worked for the Canadian Coast Guard and chaired the committee which put together the recommendations for the COPCR. Capt. Tuomi is now retired, but still carries out some International Marine consultancy work.
