All
proctoring (a.k.a.exam supervising) whether in a classroom situation,
public location or via the internet must be carried out by an adult
(age of majority of each province), not related to the candidates
writing the exam.
i)
To select your answer, click in the circle beside the letter that
corresponds to the correct choice or best answer.
ii)
No reference material is allowed while taking the exam.
iii) This exam includes 36 questions.
iv)
27 out of 36 (75%) questions must be answered correctly to pass.
v)
No communication is permitted with people other than the exam proctor.
(Cellular telephones & pagers must be turned off) and any communication
with proctor must not assist candidate with the exam.
vi)
You will have a maximum of 45 minutes to complete the test.
i)
Candidate shall be ready to write when giving log in ID and submitting
password information. If logos and/or questions do not display correctly,
or you are having difficulty logging in, please see 'tech requirements'
page.
ii)
No materials that might assist the candidate with the exam are allowed
with the candidate or within sight.
iii)
The exam proctor must not give any assistance to the candidate apart
from to clarify a question and give no indication of the correct
answer.
iv)
The proctor of the exam must be present and monitoring throughout
the exam.
v)
No talking between candidates during the exam.
vi)
All written exams have a strict 45 minute time limit
vii)
Candidates caught cheating will have access to their accounts terminated
and their exams deemed void.
viii)
No-one may leave and restart the exam.
i)
When all questions are complete and ready for grading, click the
button at the bottom of the page called 'Grade Me'.
ii)
The computer then marks the exam instantly.
iii)
No changes to the exam can be made after it has been submitted for
marking.
iv)
Screen will transfer to results page.
v)
Each candidate successfully answering 27 of 36 questions will have
passed.
vi)
All candidates that have passed can request to be debriefed on their
incorrect answers by clicking the button that say's 'solutions'
on the results page.
vii)
Please be sure to print the results page (for successful candidates
only) for use as Temporary Proof of Competency while you await the
arrival of your permanent plastic card.
viii)
Permanent cards take from 5-6 weeks for delivery. The temporary
proof of competency can be used while boating in the mean time.
ix)
Candidate pays $35 plus applicable taxes to carry out the test.
For unsuccessful candidates, there is a 'retry' fee of lesser value
than the initial examination fee.
x)
Candidates who fail the exam may challenge the following day but
will be taking a different version of the exam. It is strongly
advised that unsuccessful candidates either purchase a study
manual or take an approved course prior to retaking the exam.
